Blackberry Enterprise Server Express  Launched by RIM 16th Feb 2010
B-Connected are delighted to announce that RIM have officially launched BES Express. RIM have really shaken up the market and quiet litterally thrown the cat amongnst the pidgeons with this launch. RIM is giving away BES Express Software for MS Exchange that allows companies to empower all of its employees with wireless access to their business email without compromising security or manageability. BES Express will support up to 2000 users free of charge. With this announcement it is felt that RIM will significantly impact the iPhone, Android & Symbian space.

Restrictions
|
|
|

Over the Air Activation (OTA) is not available for users on the BIS plan, users on the BES plan using BES Express can still use OTA to activate devices.
|

Device activations for BIS Data Plan devices needs to be done with the USB Cable, so the device must come into the office to be activated the first time.
|
|
|

|
Does not currently support Lotus Domino, Groupwise, Zimbra or Google Apps.
|
|
|

|
Does not support features such as High Availability, Mobile Voice Services, Monitoring, Instant Messaging, Chalk or Pushcast available in full BES.
|
|
|

|
Important Note: For those users currently on BlackBerry Professional Software, this will continue to be available until end of 2010 when it will be deemed end of life.

This is a must for any organistaion either considering rolling out a secure, robust, mobile solution to its workforce. BlackBerry is unrivalled in this space.
Clients who are on BPS or full BES may also want to look at this option as it gives them the option to potentially half their monthly BlackBerry data plan tariff by going to the BIS tariff, this will require a complete redeployment.
